Alejandra Anglada

Born in Mexico City in 1986, half Mexican, half Spanish Alejandra Anglada moved to our Mediterranean hotspot in 2007, first modelling and later studying Fashion Design at Barcelona’s Instituto Europeo di Design (IED), where her thesis scored major points by winning the Best Collection Award in ModaFad, one of the leading fashion contests in Spain.

She is a fashion designer, creative director and stylist and, since moving back to her home country, the proud owner and inspiration of the Biuriful fashionista store in Mexico’s Caribbean Riviera, making her one of the cooler cats of this destination.

Alejandra Anglada’s “Tulum” print combines a number of elements typical of the deep-rooted Mexican mystic tradition. Foremost amongst them is the shamanic copalera, a handheld clay cup. Here, it expels ritual smoke, elevating a prayer to the divine and transmutating into the other creative forms and living beings present. In line with Arrels Barcelona’s values, this striking and elegant design speaks of conversion and vitality which ultimately breathe life.
